Holly Jolly Christmas Cake Pops {Tutorial}
December 23, 2016It's been awhile since I last made some cute cake pops and I know I'm guilty of it. But, Christmas holiday always make me want to get creative because I get so inspired from the bright festive colours and the endless decorative possibilities.
Here's what I did for my little cake pop gifts for my colleagues and friends, step by step:
{Christmas Chocolate Cake Pops}
Chocolate Cake Pops - adapted from babycakes recipe
Ingredients
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup sugar
3 tbsp cocoa powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 cup buttermilk*
3 tbsp vegetable oil
1 egg
1/2 tsp vanilla
1/4 cup freshly brewed hot coffee
Chocolate candy melts
Instructions
- Combine flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda, baking powder, and salt in a mixing bowl
- Add buttermilk, vegetable oil, egg and vanilla, blend with an electric mixer until smooth
- Add coffee and continue mixing until coffee is evenly incorporated into mixture
- Pour mixture into pastry piping bag and cut the tip off
- Pipe mixture to heated cake pop machine and cook for 4-5 minutes
- Let the cake pops cool
- Melt chocolate candy melts in a small bowl by microwaving for 30-second intervals
- Dip lollipop sticks into candy melt and insert into cake pops
- Repeat for all cake pops
- Dip cake pops into candy melt to cover them completely and let them cool
*If you don't have buttermilk on hand, pour 3/4 tsp lemon juice or vinegar into a glass measuring cup. Add milk to equal 1/4 cup. Allow to stand 5 to 10 minutes, then use in place of buttermilk.
