A Guide to Sightseeing in Abu Dhabi
November 11, 2020Hello there! You all know I love to travel, and one of my favorite things to do is travel to unique places that are unlike anywhere else in the world. One of those unique destinations: Abu Dhabi. With its history, religious sites, unusual and incredible architecture to see such as Sheikh Zayed Bridge for example, and so much more, it is a destination that you will always remember. It is the capital of the United Arab Emirates, and while Dubai is very popular for its nightlife and energy, Abu Dhabi is a more affordable, safe city, and it offers a more low-key and local experience.
So I wanted to share with you all a guide to sightseeing in Abu Dhabi, so that you can make the most of your time while here.
Here are some locations that you must see while here:
The Grand Mosque
The Grand Mosque, Sheikh Zayed Mosque, is a stunning site that is a must-visit. It is one of the largest mosques in the world and costed billions to build, with its incredible pools, white marble walls and more. For an astounding view of the mosque, head across the way to Wahat al Karama Park. Dress appropriately, as it is a place of worship.
Desert Safari
It is not a complete trip to Abu Dhabi without visiting the desert! Less than an hour away, you can have an adventure of a lifetime. Head out for a day trip where you can go sandboarding, ride a camel, dune bashing, go to a show, and see the stars. If you want, you can even spend a night camping out in the desert. The Emirates Palace
Head to the Emirates Palace to check out the most iconic hotel in Abu Dhabi. It is over $500/night, so even if that is out of your price range, you can still check it out and take a look at the incredible architecture and décor.Corniche Road
Corniche Road takes you along the seafront in Abu Dhabi, and it is a must-do to take in the incredible beauty along the coast here. The promenade along The Corniche, Corniche Road, has cafes and restaurants you can stop off along the way if you’d like, or just continue your walk along to enjoy the water and beautiful views.
Louvre Abu Dhabi
The Louvre Abu Dhabi is a unique site to visit, as it is the first one outside of France. If you enjoy going to museums it is a must, with pieces from da Vinci, van Gogh and more. But even if you aren’t particularly a fan of going to museums, a visit is still well worth it to appreciate the incredible architecture of the building itself. Dates Market
The Dates Market in Abu Dhabi is famous a marketplace, where date vendors come from all over to sell their dates. You’ll find a variety here and can taste different and delicious dates. So there we have some incredible places to visit in Abu Dhabi, but another just as important thing to keep in mind for a trip here is the food! Abu Dhabi has residents and visitors from all over the world, and this is reflected in the delicious food that is available here.
